A perennial favorite, the Red Delicious apple is sometimes known as America’s snacking apple. Introduced in 1874 in Peru, Iowa, the “Red” was originally known as the Hawkeye. Since the 1920’s Washington apple growers have been producing the world’s best Red Delicious apples.
